Tichigan Lake
Tichigan Lake is located in Wisconsin’s Lake Michigan Region and is part of the Waterford Impoundment on the Fox River. A considerable number of lake lubbers can live on the private lakefront. Tichigan Lake is just 268 acres in size, but the combined water surface of Tichigan Lake, 108-acre Buena Lake, and the 756-acre impounded stretch of the Fox River is over 1,100 acres.

The Waterford Dam, located in the Village of Waterford at the south end of Buena Lake, creates all three water bodies. Except for the 1,500-acre Tichigan Wildlife Area, which encompasses the northern section of the impoundment basin, the approximately 24 miles of shoreline are private.
Furthermore, marshes make up a substantial percentage of the shoreline, providing lots of natural habitats. Consequently, despite the intensively built lakefronts of Tichigan and Buena Lakes, a substantial tract of natural shoreline is available for bird-watching and wildlife viewing.
The public has access to the lake through a number of state-owned boat launches. Paddlesports enthusiasts frequently approach Tichigan Lake via the Fox River, which is navigable for several kilometers if paddlers are willing to make a few simple portages. The Waterford Impoundment and the Fox River, located on the west part of Racine County, drain into the Mississippi River system; rivers in eastern Racine County go into Lake Michigan.
On Tichigan Lake, fishing is a popular pastime. Bass tournaments are held regularly across the Waterford Impoundment. Bluegill, largemouth bass, northern pike, smallmouth bass, walleye, crappie, and catfish are all captured regularly since the water is shallow and has good weed cover.
The Fox River’s incoming stream mouths and peaceful sections are home to brook and brown trout. Every winter, ice fishers flock to the impoundment. As the number of common carp in the lakes has grown, a local environmental group, Fox River C.A.U.S.E., has organized ‘carp round-ups,’ where participants are paid a dollar for each fish taken from the lakes.
Nature enthusiasts and hunters alike flock to Tichigan Wildlife Area. As a refuge, certain portions are off-limits, but others are available for trekking and bird-watching. Tichigan Marsh is Racine County’s largest emergent marsh.
The wildlife area is one of the best places to see great egrets, least bitterns, terns, teal, wood ducks, Wilson’s phalaropes, and white-rumped sandpipers in south-central Wisconsin. During hunting season, hunters stalk deer, ducks, turkey, small game, and pheasants in the wildlife region.

We just completed our dream kitchen remodel with Waldron Construction. We are extremely pleased with the results. Angie helped us through the design and was always a text/phone call away. The trades were excellent and were great to work with. Of course there were hiccups in the process but nothing that couldn’t be worked out. Having the schedule in front of us daily through builder trend was great too. Joe was very responsive whenever we had questions or concerns.
